If you take a drive on district road number 133 through the pastoral land in Otofuke town in the direction of Shikaoi you will come across this lovely road lined on both sides with birch trees. This road runs for about 1.3 kms and the slender, white trunks of the birch trees seem to reach for the sky as they flick past the window of the car.
I visited this road at the beginning of September and the leaves were just starting to change color. I think it must look wonderful closer to winter when the leaves are a range of deep yellows and reds. After this huge (by Japanese standards) ranch there is a viewing platform with a wide view over the area.
