“Sapporo Kani-no-Tsume” - All-you-can-eat crabs in Susukino, Sapporo!


It is already exciting that they offer boiled hairy crabs, king crabs, and snow crabs for all-you-can-eat but they add crab shabu-shabu, too! Is this the sacred place for crab lovers or crab heaven? A restaurant where you can enjoy crabs as much as you can appeared in Sapporo.


“Sapporo Kani-no-Tsume” appeared in Susukino, Sapporo

Sapporo Kani-no-Tsume,” a restaurant for crab lovers appeared in Susukino, Sapporo on June 23, 2019. 

It is located on the second floor of Tokyu Restaurant Plaza in Sapporo Tokyu REI Hotel along Densha-Dori in Susukino. 

It’s one min on foot from the Exit no.4 of Sapporo’s subway Nanboku Line “Susukino Station,” where escalators are located. 


They offer 120 mins boiled hairy crab, king crab, snow crab all-you-can-eat, crabs and shrimp shabu-shabu all-you-can-eat, etc., for 6,000 yen (regular price)/person and 5,500 yen (membership discount)/person. (*1)

Those tourists who think “I should have crabs if I visit Hokkaido.” 

And those locals who would like to offer delicious crabs to visitors who come to Hokkaido or who consider having as much crab they want with their families,

Let’s go to “Sapporo Kani-no-Tsume”! 


Hairy crabs, king crabs, and snow crabs: is this the sacred place for crab lovers? 

“Sapporo Kani-no-Tsume” maintains the quality of crabs by arranging the time to stock from their experienced crab experts’ relationships with various companies in and outside of Japan and trying before serving to customers. 

If they decide the quality is not good enough after trying crabs, they don’t stock crabs even the price is low. 

So throw away your prejudice towards all-you-can-eat crabs. 


I had “Sapporo Kani-no-Tsume”’s recommended course at the press conference before their opening. 

Boiled crab: delicious! 

Crab shabu-shabu: delicious! 

Crab sushi: delicious!

Become quiet when having boiled crabs and excited when having shabu-shabu

People in Hokkaido are familiar with hairy crabs and king crabs, but they are not too much familiar with snow crabs. Having three crabs all at once is a rare experience. Enjoy the flavors thoroughly. 

You would feel the difference in flavors, although they are all called crabs.

Have hairy crabs with brown meat, huge pieces of king crab’s legs, and enjoy the delicate flavor of snow crabs. 

Everyone get concentrated when they have boiled crabs, so tables tend to become quiet. 

And when shabu-shabu is offered, most people get excited again and take pictures!

“Wow, this is amazing!” 

札幌すすきの「札幌蟹のつめ」のしゃぶしゃぶセット▲They make this golden dashi broth for shabu-shabu with Rishiri Kombu. 

They use dashi broth made with Rishiri Kombu, and the soup is already flavored. Therefore, you can enjoy crabs right after boiling it for a while in the broth, without any more sauce. 

This is a very simple way to have crabs, but this is the best way to enjoy the natural umami flavors of crabs itself! 

札幌すすきの「札幌蟹のつめ」のカニしゃぶしゃぶ▲Crabs look beautiful as it spreads like flowers when boiled in the broth. 

If you want some other flavors, have it with Kani-no-Tsume’s homemade sesame ponzu sauce.

This sesame ponzu sauce is quite thick as they considered dashi of shabu-shabu gets mixed. 

The manager Arai taught us a secret recipe of shabu-shabu sauce. 

Leave a few amounts of brown meat from boiled hairy crabs. Add Rishiri Kombu dashi broth into it, and the sauce is ready. 

What a luxury secret recipe! 
Don’t forget to try making this sauce when you have shabu-shabu at “Kani-no-Tsume.” 

They offer different vegetables for shabu-shabu depending on the season. When I visited the restaurant, they offered Hokkaido sourced Romaine lettuce, asparagus, radish, golden oyster mushrooms, etc. Vegetables cooked in the dashi broth was also very delicious.

Crab sushi appears when you feel pretty full by having boiled crabs and crab shabu-shabu as much as you want. 

But sushi makes you eat more! 

“Our crabs are stocked carefully by crab experts. I want customers to enjoy delicious crabs in different ways.” The manager Arai told me. 

120 mins all-you-can-eat course is a real all-you-can-eat course, so each person can have as many crabs as they want in their favorite way. For example, some can have as much boiled king crab legs, and others can have less boiled crabs instead more crab shabu-shabu. 

The restaurant offers a huge room that accepts large numbers of groups as well as private rooms that are perfect for families and friends. You can visit any number of groups. 

Those who are from outside of Hokkaido, or from Hokkaido, or locals in Hokkaido, and visitors from overseas, why don’t you all visit here to have as many crabs as you want in Susukino, Sapporo?
