"Genghis Khan Treats" A convenient way to get a taste of the Sapporo Beer Garden's food if you're outside of Sapporo.
Lawson convenience stores across Hokkaido have just recently released three new treats with a "Sapporo Beer Garden" flavor! The Genghis Khan Rice Bowl, Genghis Khan Stir-Fried Udon, and Genghis Khan Rice Ball!
As a representative of the Hokkaido Likers Genghis Khan Team (which does exist), I made my way down to the store at noon on the release day (June, 25th) to have a taste!
I tried the Genghis Khan Rice Bowl first.
The center of the bowl was piled high with lamb surrounded with onions, bean sprouts, pumpkin and peppers.
The layout looked just like a Genghis Khan grill!
After heating it up in the microwave and opening the lid I was happy to be greeted by the delicious smell of Genghis Khan, a scent that every Hokkaido native loves!
The box contains a large helping of both meat and veggies, and includes authentic Genghis Khan sauce in place of the usual soy sauce. A must try for any fan!
Next up was the Genghis Khan Stir-Fried Udon.
These noodles were fried in the delicious Genghis Khan sauce, and have a taste that goes great with beer!
In fact, if you buy this meal with a Sapporo Classic, you get a 30 Yen discount!
Finally I tried the Genghis Khan Rice Ball.
This treat tastes much better heated up, so be sure you ask the teller to pop it in the microwave for you!
Although you may think that Genghis Kahn is a bit too greasy to be put into a ball of rice, don't fret! The meat used here is dark and delicious, accentuated with a bit of black pepper, and none too greasy! Definitely a summer treat.
These delicious products are only available until July 8th, so be sure to head to your local Hokkaido Lawson and pick one up!
If you happen to be visiting Hokkaido during this time consider yourself lucky!
If you don't have enough time to head to the Sapporo Beer Garden, then Lawson is the perfect place to get that great taste! They're even available at the New Chitose Airport!
From June 25th to July 8th, 2013.
