"Hiroo Santa Land Illumination" - Hiroo Town A Santa town lit with the gentle glow of Christmas lights.
Hiroo Town is a town full of natural beauty located at the southern end of Tokachi. In 1984, Hiroo was the first town outside of Santa's hometown of Oslo, Norway to be certified officially as "Santa Land."
The center of Santa Land, where the global message of "Peace and Love" is on display, is located in Omaruyama Forest Park. This area features many attractions including Santa's Bell, Santa Rooms, and Santa's House all lit with the magical colors of a Christmas lights. Santa Land is open from the end of October until December 31st.
The park location prevents light pollution adding a feeling of magic to the illuminated event. As soon as you enter Santa Land you'll feel the change in the air as you move from a bustling city to a Christmas wonderland.
In Hiroo Santa Land, as is tradition in Norway's Santa Land, visitors can participate in sending Santa mail, as well as getting messages from Santa himself! It's also lovely to be able to send Christmas cards to those important to you, filled with well wishes from Hokkaido. For those in Japan that want to send some mail to Santa, the deadline is December 10th, so if you're interested be sure to check the homepage link below!

Every year Hiroo Santa Land also provides the giant Christmas tree found in Sapporo Factory, located in Sapporo City. This year's tree, located in Sapporo Factory's atrium, is a Sakhalin fir which stands at 15 meters and is beautifully decorated. The tree is lit everyday until December 25th from 4:00 to 10:00.
