Two and half hours drive from Sapporo. As Biei-Cho has a beautiful view of flowers, as they are also known as “patchwork hill.” Located near Furano City (about 45 minutes by car) and the direct road (national road No.237) which connects the towns are beautiful, the area is enjoyed as a drive route.
▲Beautiful “hilly” view of Biei is attractive to people in Hokkaido as well.
On the way, taking a turn by a sign, there is “Panoramic Flower Gardens Shikisai-no-oka”.
What constructs “patchwork” view is farms such as wheat, potatoes, lily root, etc. “Panoramic Flower Gardens Shikisai-no-oka” uses the ex-farm. They plant 30-40 kinds of flowers to the field which farmers left, and those flowers bloom from May to October every year. Especially July to September is the most beautiful time. The view of gentle slope with flowers is spectacular!
▲Campanella in bloom when I covered. They were waving by the wind.
▲Sunflowers. So beautiful that I could not resist taking a picture.
The area is enormous; increased 7 hectares recently and now the total is 15 hectares. The area which added is still under construction, and not many people visit but even only walking up and down the hill of the area where flowers are, is quite a distance. I recommend using tractor bus or carts.
▲Tractor busses stop by view spot so that you can get off and take pictures.
▲For this cover, I rented a cart for two people and went around with the photographer.
At the shop, soft serve and croquette are awesome.
The soft serve made from fresh milk produced in Biei-Cho has five flavors, milk, lavender, pumpkin, and more. I bet many people can not decide.
Also, the croquette made with potatoes produced on the home farm has two kinds, each made from different kind of potatoes. Light taste and soft texture are “Danshaku”, and sweet taste is “Kita Akari”.
▲Soft serve had very smooth texture. Croquette had strong potatoes’ natural taste.
This is a spectacular flower view spot where you can also enjoy Mt. Furano and Mt. Tokachi over the hill.
