Footprints of a bear.
Sapporo Mountain, on the outskirts of Sapporo city.
While climbing I came across the footprints you see above, bear tracks!
These footprints are about 27 centimeters across and I believe they belong to a large male brown bear.
Brown bears go into hibernation around December and wake up in April or May of the following year.
Sights like this serve as a reminder that living in Hokkaido means living alongside a wide range of natural life as well.
